| Abstract: | "This is Not the Whole Story" deals with young women in rural West Virginia struggling to survive and to come into their own power and
make peace with their bodies. Its confrontational, second person style implicates the reader in these struggles; of class, and resource exploitation, gendered power, and insider/outsider dynamics. It strives to grapple with the question of art as a tool for social
justice, through combining a passion for language and aesthetics with a powerful call for change for women and girls. |
